Indian Space Mission: India's first private rocket 'Vikram-I' ready for launch, will create new history from Sriharikota
Sriharikota. Indian Space Mission: Preparations are complete to write a new history in India's space sector. Hyderabad-based private company Skyroot Aerospace's first private rocket 'Vikram-I' is now ready for launch. The integration of the rocket's second stage has been successfully completed at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. With this, the excitement regarding the flight of India's first private rocket has increased further.
Skyroot Aerospace has also released new images of Vikram-I, showing the rocket in the final stages of launch preparation. This advanced four-stage rocket, with the second stage, Kalam-250, completed. Work on the remaining stages is also progressing rapidly.
Vikram-I was developed entirely using indigenous technology. Its body is made from state-of-the-art carbon composite material, which is considered stronger and lighter than steel. A special thermal protection shield is installed to protect the rocket from the extreme heat generated during flight. Additionally, it features advanced guidance and control systems that will keep the rocket on track despite the effects of wind and gravity.
A key feature of the rocket is that unused components automatically eject during flight, saving fuel and increasing efficiency. Robotic control systems continuously monitor the direction of the nozzle, ensuring mission accuracy.
The Vikram-I rocket, standing approximately 24 meters tall, will be capable of carrying small satellites weighing up to 350 kilograms into low Earth orbit (LEO). Its successful launch will usher in a new era of private participation in the space sector, joining a select group of countries where private companies build and operate their own rockets.
Experts believe that the success of Vikram-I will prove to be a milestone for India's growing space startup ecosystem and further strengthen the country's position in the global space market.
