Neeraj Sen told police that Avinash left alone for Hoshangabad (Narmadapuram) in his Hyundai Venue car around 11 p.m. Afterward, he never returned home or was heard from. His mobile phone was switched off after leaving Mandideep. When his phone turned on Saturday evening, family members called, but an unknown person answered the call. He reported that the phone was found near a restaurant in the Ratapani area. Satlapur police station took the matter seriously, connecting the sequence of events and examining CCTV footage.
