A major step has been completed for the construction of the Virat Ramayana Temple in East Champaran (Chakia), Bihar. This massive Shivalinga, considered one of the largest in the world, has now departed from Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu for Bihar. This Shivalinga has been under construction for the past 10 years.
Shivalinga is 33 feet high and weighs 210 tons.

This Mahashivalingam is being transported to Bihar on a special 96-wheel transporter truck. Transporting such a heavy religious structure by road is a major engineering feat in itself.
Departed after worship
Before the Shivalinga was sent, traditional Vedic rituals were performed in Pattikadu village in Mahabalipuram. Locals became part of this historic moment and bid farewell to the Shivalinga.
A 20-25 day long journey – Darshan will take place in many cities
The Shivalinga's journey to Bihar will take approximately 20–25 days. The travel route is as follows:
Mahabalipuram → Hosur → Hosakote → Devanahalli → Kurnool → Hyderabad → Nizamabad → Adilabad → Nagpur → Seoni → Jabalpur → Maihar → Satna → Rewa → Mirzapur → Ara → Chhapra → Masrakh → Mohammadpur → Kesaria → Chakia (Motihari)

According to Vinayak Venkataraman, founder of the construction company, this magnificent Shivalinga will be installed in the temple complex by February 2026. This installation will enhance the temple's architectural and religious grandeur.
